Anaconda's JFK Bar & The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead

Yesterday's spotting of the "JFK Bar" in Anaconda, Montana got XTC's 1992 #1 song, The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead, to stick in my head. This song, allegedly about all of us...not just JFK...produced a rather controversial video (remember those?) when it aired both in the US and Europe.

Now it can be stuck in yours:

Sweet Neon from the Atomic Age

Signs from the Thunder Bird Motor Lodge in Missoula, Montana, and the Club Moderne and JFK Bar, both in Anaconda, Montana. We are lucky to have tons of preserved "mid-century" neon in our small Montana towns. I can only imagine the variety of neon that existed in the pre-Interstate United States.

Burritos: Nature's Perfect Food?

I love burritos. I like the "real" kind I get from the good folks at Bozeman's La Tinga. I like the huge "fake" kind that you can get from any number of burrito shops or chains. I especially like simple ones like these pictured here with a pan-heated tortilla with just the right amount of crisp and chew - holding the good stuff inside.

Shot with a Nikon D70 and my new Nikkor 1.8 lens.
